This Kingdom though very small, but it’s indeed an interesting place where everyone does anything at will.
It’s only in this country where those responsible to agitate for those they represent will instead agitate for their own well fair. What a greedy tendency. All they want is for the greedy and nothing for the needy. Oh Salone!
It’s unimaginable that the deputy governor of this kingdom can only advocate for increment of salary for only the institution he is serving as its council chairman whilst the rest of other public institutions who depend on the same national cake are left out.
The wise bird has been reliably informed that the deputy governor, who doubles as Chairman of the police council, has only advocated for an increased salary of 100% for police officers in the country only.
In his defense, the deputy governor has argued that the decision was taken because they needed to improve the condition of the police, hence the stead increase of their salary, improved working condition and modern communication systems introduced to enhance their efficiency and mobility.
The Hon. Deputy Governor emphasized that effective policing requires collaboration with traditional authorities, community leader and the general public.
He furthered that, no country will develop without law and order in place, adding that lack of respect for authority is one among many factors responsible for the lawlessness in the country.
He further expressed appreciation for the government continued support to the Sierra Leone police transition process for a force to a service.
In his contribution according to the report, the Inspector-General highlighted the significant role of development partners particularly the United Nation Development Programme (UNDP) in supporting the institutional reforms, training and policy development within the SLP.
He added that, transition is designed to make the police more people-centered with community policing at the heart of crime prevention and conflict resolution.
As usual the bird went out to get the views of people and all those he came in contact with expressed happiness over the news, but questioned if the increment will in any way stop the police from collecting bribes from drivers and other innocent people.
“Will bail continue to be free in police stations?” the people also asked in anticipation.
The bird is watching the situation closely.
