Two business tycoons who identified themselves as Abdul Kanu and Mohammed Abu Turay on Tuesday 4th November 2025 made another appearance before Magistrate Mustapha Briama Jah of Pademba Road Court No.1, for allegedly exposing the travelling manifest of president Bio and entourage when traveling to the United Kingdom.
Both defendants were arraigned before the court on two count charges of wrongful communication of document contrary to section 7(I)(a) of the Treason and State Act of 1963 as amended.
The indictment states that Abdul Kanu on a date unknown between 20 and 30 August 2025 in Freetown, being in possession of the traveling manifest of President Julius Maada Bio and entourage to the United Kingdom did communicate the said manifest with Mohammed Abu Turay wrongfully.
The indictment further stated that Mohammed Abu Turay on the same date also being in possession of the traveling manifest of President Julius Maada Bio and entourage to the United Kingdom did communicate the said manifest with cash in Dubai wrongfully.
When the charges were read and explained to the defendants, no plea was taken
The State Prosecutor Yusif Isaac Sesay Esq. intimated the court that he wished to close their case as he relied on the evidence adduced so far before the court.
E.B Kargbo Esq. and J. Wales Esq. applied for the individual that prepared the cyber report which was exhibit D1-7 for the institution to come and testify before the court as their position is for the author of that report because they have certain questions for him in respect of the said report which was tendered by the former witness instead of the author.
Responding to the defense counsel’s reply that it content of court for an order has been given and issue which have been ruled upon by a Magistrate or judge the defense challenge on the wrong way it either they appeal and he did not use any law he relied on his application that guarantees him for such application.
Meanwhile Magistrate Jah refused bail and sent both defendants to the male correctional facility in Freetown and matter adjourned to 7th November 2025.
