Emma Coker and Abdulai Khemolia on Tuesday 10th June, 2025 made another appearance before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of Pademba Road No.1 for allegedly assaulting a youth Mohamed Conteh leading to his death.
Shortly after the matter was mentioned, the
Prosecutor ASP Ibrahim Mansaray said that the witness was led at the last adjourned dates for the defense to cross examine the witness but they sought for an adjournment.
He said after that period, the witness fell sick and was unable to go to court.
Defense counsel Kamara said the matter his clients are standing trial for is a serious one.
He added that since February, the witness has stopped coming to court.
He said this is the fifth week the witness has not been appearing before the court whilst his clients remain in custody.
Magistrate Braima Jah said the matter before court is a serious one and wants it to be completed in less than ten working days.
The prosecutor ASP Ibrahim Mansaray sought for an adjournment, saying that the absent witness will be the last for the matter.
The accused were remanded in custody and the matter was adjourned to Friday 13th June 2025 for cross examination.
The accused Emma Coker and Abdulai Khemolia were arraigned before the court on two count charges of conspiracy to murder contrary to section 4 of the Offenses against the Persons Act of 1861 and murder contrary to law.
The charge sheet indicated that Emma Coker and Abdulai Khemolia on Sunday 22nd December 2024 at Banana Water in Freetown, conspired together to murder Mohamed Conteh.
