The 2023 Flagbearer of the All People’s Congress (APC) party, Dr. Samura Kamara, says all Sierra Leoneans especially members of his political party should prioritize the call for electoral justice now in Sierra Leone.
“If we give blind eye on the rigged 2023 elections, there will be no democratic elections in 2028 elections.”
According to Dr. Samura Kamara, what the APC needs at the moment is to write a letter to the ECOWAS expressing its grave concerns on the failure by the government and the ECSL to give account of the 2023 elections on its conducts.
Dr. Kamara informed that, some people in the party wanted him to execute massive protest by rallying the people. But he said he could not plan such a thing as he referenced what happened on August 10 protest in which dozens of civilians lost their lives.
He said the party had undertaken on a dialogue, adding that what prompted the dialogue was the faulty outcome of 2023 elections.
Dr. Kamara maintained that since the dialogue conference on National unity in the country, the government has never implemented the recommendations highlighted in a report after the dialogue.
“Let Sierra Leone just forget about the MCC money if those recommendations are not adhered to the latter,” he said.
He said the call for electoral justice is not about Dr. Samura Kamara alone but it is a call for democracy.
He said the 2023 election was stolen and all those responsible for the defrauding Sierra Leonean votes should be reprimanded and face justice.
He said the sub-region is facing serious problems because of injustices on electoral systems in countries elections have been held of late.
He stated that Sierra Leoneans both at the international community and at home should not wait to see what happened in other nations to happen in Sierra Leone.
Dr Kamara called to action on electoral justice to be delivered so that the democracy the world is fighting is guaranteed.
He spoke on important issues ranging from peace and unity within his party and the country, citing that he knew many voted him in 2023 those people voted him for a change of regime.
He alluded on the fact that electoral justice should be enforced in the country.
He said President Tejan Kabba and Sierra Leone enjoyed peaceful transfer of power in 2007.
In 2012 Sierra Leoneans voted for Ernest Koroma after Late President Kabba because of the progress seen being made by former President Ernest Bai Koroma.
He revealed that in 2018, President Ernest Bai Koroma also transfered power peacefully to the now President Julius Maada Bio.
And in 2023 Sierra Leoneans voted for a regime change.
He said ECSL are dragging their feet not to account for the elections ballot papers and on the voting process which was described as being rigged by the international community.
