It is incredible that boxing is one of the most popular sports in Sierra Leone and the world as a whole according to Umar Kremlev in a statement.

He made the statement when he was addressing the EUBC Congress in Istanbul as he was emphasizing unity among the boxing family and calling for fair opportunities for all athletes.

He, however, said that boxers in different categories in the continent usually battle in the ring on mega events like the Commonwealth games, world championship, Olympic Games etc.

Nevertheless there hasn’t been any report or comments that clarify any home trial before they travelled to Senegal yet, the land is still blessed.

Among the  four (4) boxers that travelled are: Abu Bakarr Kanu (57Kg national team captain); Mohamed Sillah (63.5Kg); Thomas A. Williams (71Kg); Sarah (52kg), and head coach Mohamed Lamin Turay.

The event commenced from the 9th to 25th  September, 2023. Sports fans at home and aboard are seeking for better results this time around. Though the discipline is on track based on the positive performances over the years, but much is expected from the team.
