In a well-attended meeting of members of Sierra Leone Traditional Healers Association (SLENTHA) from all over the country at their K-Step office, Calaba Town, Freetown, on 2rd November 2023, Alhaji Dr, Mohamed Konneh, President of SLENTHA, disclosed that they are to provide about forty thousand manpower of their members to Government to act as territorial Guards to beef up our country’s security network.
He also added that this good initiative will help to strengthen peace and unity in the country more so when their association stands for upholding the peace and tranquillity in the country which is why they have their slogan ‘‘DO GOOD, AVOID EVIL- NO RETREAT, NO SURRENDER’’.
The President also maintained that the country has a huge number of spurious border-crossing points which are very difficult for our securities to fully cover and forestall illegal crossing. But by deploying traditional people who knows their areas very well would be able to man them effectively to induce maximum security.
The President furthered that the main purpose of the meeting was to highlight six (6) important issues bothering on the growth of SLENTHA which has been fully and officially recognized by government of Sierra Leone as the only herbalist association.
However, these six significant issues which ranges from, finances, beefing up the security sector of the country, empowerment of the association through WHO, Government – Ministry of Health and other local and international bodies, traveling facilities for members to China, India, Ethopia and other countries in the World, their personal benefits, to the association and the country at large and many other vital issues that he dilated on would be fully serialised in subsequent editions. Yet, the President stressed that they would be meeting with authorities at the Office of National Security (ONS) on 9th Novembers this year to discuss more on the security issues.
Chairman of SLENTHA Dr. Fransise Foray also maintained that the association has taken giant steps to forge ahead with very important programs that will impact the nation at large. He referred to President Kanneh as a patriotic, honest, hardworking and resilient leader that have the country and his people at heart. Many other people including men and women also made significant contributions.
