The Spokesman of the Ministry of Defence, Colonel Issa Bangura has said on AYV Television this morning that seven (7) serving personnel of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) were killed in action during the Sunday November 26th 2023, ugly incident while several others sustained injuries. He said the injured officers are responding to treatment.
Police Spokesman ACP Brima Kamara encourages the general public to cooperate with the police, while cautioning the general populace against aiding, abetting or harbouring of prisoners,
The Spokespersons of Office of National Security (ONS), Police and Military were on AYV Television to update the public on the current situation after yesterday’s incident.
ONS Spokesman Abdul Karim Will said some of those arrested are retired military and police personnel, but couldn’t state their ranks.
Meanwhile a high powered delegation from ECOWAS and the Nigerian Government is expected to jet in today in solidarity with the Government and people of Sierra Leone.
Diplomatic Missions in the country as well as the European Union and Commonwealth Secretariat have issued statements of solidarity to the government.
