Twenty-nine-years-old, Vandy Kpaka, a masoner, has made his first appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown.
He stood in defence on a count charge of larceny contrary to Section 17 (1) (a) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of offence on diverse dates between the 1st to 31st , 2024 at Kingston Town Hastings Waterloo in Western Rural area in Freetown, being a house caretaker employed by Maya Sallu Kaikai, he stole one generator, a bailing machine, one Aluminium ladder and other items all to the total sum of fifty eight thousand eight hundred Leones(58,800) property of the said Maya Sallu Kaikai.
When the charge was read and explained to the accused, no plea taken.
The prosecutor Inspector Kadie M. Taylor sought for a short adjournment date for her to get proper conference with her witness.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Kekura granted bail to the accused in the sum of two hundred thousand Leones or to produce a surety in like sum
The surety must be resident in Freetown and should produce valid identity card depicting his or her address to be in Freetown.
Bail was to be approved by the Deputy Assistant Registrar.
The matter was adjourned to 7th April 2025.
