Abdulai Sow of No. 160 Bai Bureh Road, Freetown is reportedly on the run after he allegedly escaped bail and police are on the lookout for him.
He was granted bail at Kambia district where he was seeking refugee following his escape from Freetown. Sow was told to be reporting on a daily basis which he blatantly disobeyed.
Abdulai Sow, according to sources reaching Africa 24 newspaper was among protesters on August 10, 2022 that were calling for the resignation of President Julius Maada Bio due to the economic hardship that engulfed the people of Sierra Leone.
The demonstration commenced on a peacefully atmosphere on August 10, 2022 but later on metamorphous into bloodbath as massive crowd descended on the streets of Freetown. This ugly scenario ended up crippling the entire capital city as security forces were unable to contain the protesters.
The tense and chaotic scenes led police and other security apparatus to openly fire teargas and live round of bullets on protesters that resulted into the killings of both civilians and police officers. Abdulai Sow reports say was visibly seen during this protest on August 10, 2022.
The protesters accused president Bio of not doing anything to ameliorate their plight as prices of basic commodities skyrocketed exponentially and the common man cannot even afford a square meal per day.
The protesters also accused the president of high level of corruption, nepotism, tribalism, poor handling of the economy. Human rights abuse by not letting people to vent out their views about burning trending issues, on politics and other societal topics publicly which they stated does not augur well in a democratic dispensation.
Abdulai Sow who among other protesters played active role in staging the protest. He and others were later on sought after by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Lahai Lawrence Leema at their various residences.
Reports revealed to Africa24 newspaper that most residents raided by Leema were ransacked by thugs loyal to the ruling SLPP government. Some of these protesters were apprehended, but others whereabouts still remain a mystery. Unconfirmed sources say, those missing were murdered in cold blood.
However, our investigation discovered that Abdulai Sow escaped to Kambai district where he was later on arrested and detained though granted bail and told to be reporting on a daily basis which he failed to to comply.
Police sources say, Abdulai Sow failed to honour orders given to him, and disappeared but they are searching for him. A wanted message has been communicated across all police division in the country to hunt him down, in order to face his crime. As we went to press the exact whereabouts of Abdulai Sow remain unknown.
