Six principals are said to be invited by the Anti-Corruption Commission for special investigation.
They were invited based on admission of improprieties such ranging from breaching protocols: agreed intake numbers, admitting of pupils above the agreed cut-off aggregates under declaration of available classroom spaces etc.
This is in connection to 2023 BECE admission and so they have been suspended by the Teaching Service Commission.
After the investigation by the country’s anti-graft agency, ACC has recommended among others, that administrative measures will be taken against them.
Based on ACC’s recommendation on the issue, the said principals have immediately been suspended by the Teaching Service Commission (TSC) for two months, starting from 15th April to 15th June 2024.
The retired principals of the respective schools have been appointed to work in another function as caretakers to cover the suspension period.
The principals of schools affecetd are: the Annie Walsh Memorial SSS Freetown; Saint Edwards SSS Freetown; Saint Joseph’s SSS Freetown; Prince of Wales SSS Freetown; Methodist Girls High School SSS Freetown and the Albert Academy SSS Freetown.
The above schools have been suspended including their principals.
