The captain of Shooting Stars, Momoh Ibrahim Kamara, has been awarded the Golden Boot at the just concluded U-20 African Cup of Nations, for scoring four goals, leading all players in the scoring chat.
Kamara’s show included a hat-trick against hosts Egypt, contributing to a 4-1 victory. He also added a goal against South Africa, helping Sierra Leone reach the quarter-finals before their elimination by Morocco.
In addition to the Golden Boot, Kamara was named Player of the Group Stage for his commanding midfield presence. “Momoh is different,” said head coach Mohamed Lamin Kamara, commenting that: “He has the heart of a lion and the feet of an artist.”
Though, the early exit, Captain Kamara earned a spot in the CAF Technical Study Group Best XI of the group stage, spotlight his impressive contributions throughout the tournament.
Presently, Kamara pened with Minnesota United FC 2 in the MLS NEXT Pro, joining on loan from Mattia FC with a purchase option. “Joining Minnesota is a big step,” he remarked. “It’s a new challenge, but Egypt gave me the confidence that I can succeed anywhere,” Kamara explained.
