Hon Osman Timbo has tendered his resignation as the deputy Secretary General of the All People’s Congress (APC) and has aspired to run for flagbearer position.
While addressing pressmen Hon Timbo expressed his heartfelt gratitude and assured strong commitment to their shared dream of making Sierra Leone better.
He said after deep reflection and a sense of duty, he officially announced his resignation from his position as Deputy National Secretary General effective immediately.
According to him, his journey in this esteemed position has been one of service, learning, and dedication to advancing their party and their nation.
“I want to sincerely thank the leadership of the APC, especially my boss the National Secretary General (Lawyer Lansana Dumbuya), the National Chairman, the Deputy National Chairman and the entire executive, at all levels of the party, for the trust they placed in me and for creating the space for me to contribute meaningfully to our great party,” he said.
The MP also extended special thanks to Dr. Samura Kamara for leading the party through the 2023 elections, which he claimed was stolen from the people of this nation. “Never again will we allow such thievery.” he stated.
He also expressed heartfelt appreciation to all the delegates at the February 2023 APC National Delegates Conference who overwhelmingly elected him to serve in his former position, adding that their faith in him has been a great inspiration, and he felt truly honoured to have had the opportunity to work for the good of their party and the nation. “Thank you to supporters within and outside the party who stood with me during my darkest days when I was removed from parliament in 2019,” he asserted.
Hon Timbo revealed that this decision to step aside at this moment has not been an easy one, especially considering the pivotal role he have been playing, but it is a necessary one.
“I have always lived by the principle of fairness and with the upcoming activities within the party, I believe that stepping down from this position will help maintain the integrity of the Secretariat and ensure a fair and level playing field for all” he stated.
He disclosed that he is he not leaving politics, nor is he leaving the APC.
“I remain fully committed to the APC and will continue to do my best to support and strengthen the party” he informed.
Hon Timbo said although his time as Deputy National Secretary General has come to an end, this marks the beginning of a new chapter in his political journey. He pointed out that he will focus on his next steps and look forward to engaging with party members, stakeholders, and the general public in the coming days and weeks.
“In the next weeks, I will inform the nation about my next steps” he assured.
The MP said as they face the challenges ahead, let them remain united in their common goal of building a better and more inclusive Sierra Leone.
Hon Timbo urged every Sierra Leonean to dream big, for their nation’s future is built on the hopes and aspirations of its people, especially the young. “Believe in the strength of our unity, the resilience of our spirit, and the power of change that lies within each of us. Achieve greatness by working together, breaking barriers and stereotypes, and pushing forward despite challenges” he
stated.
He said Sierra Leone’s best days are ahead, and through determination, courage, and collective effort and will build a nation that prospers for all.
