It was a complete tragedy in Lungi town for the Sierra Leone’s main opposition All People’s Congress leader in Parliament, Hon. Abdul Kargbo when his house was gutted down by fire on the night of Monday February 24th, 2025.
It was a devastating moment for the lawmaker as he lost not only the house, but all other properties therein worth millions of leones.
The residence which situated in Lungi town was completely reduced to ashes, leaving behind a scene of destruction and despair.
The cause of the fire which is yet to be determined, quickly engulfed the entire structure consuming its contents within a short time.
Informing the public about the catastrophe, Hon. Kargbo stated that: “last Wednesday, my nephew’s phone exploded while charging due to unstable electricity. Unfortunately, this night, a fire broke out and completely gutted my entire house. I was unable to save anything.”
According to the Parliamentarian, this has been a devastating experience, but expressed gratefulness to God for sparing his life.
He warned people to be cautious with power fluctuations. “Stay safe, everyone,” he said.
This is not the first time the opposition leader is facing such heartrending experience, as he narrowly escaped fatal road accident this year along the Freetown highway where his vehicle was seriously damaged. Meanwhile, family members and other concerned stakeholders have called for swift investigations to determine the cause of the incident.
