The brave Bra Parrot has noticed of late that, everybody in Sierra Leone today want to be a politician directly or indirectly for him/her to go to Parliament and get rich overnight, even those who cannot speak good or even better English wants to be Parliamentarians to own car, as it always the practice that, every member of Parliament must have a car to visit his/her constituency to know the problems of the people, and how to address them.

However, allegations and counter allegations have been levied against members of Parliament that, the only lucrative place now to get money(s) quickly is to become a Parliamentarian, those allegations are yet to be confirm by the brave bird, whenever that is done the public will also know.

Bra Parrot reads a lot of books, and was able to lay hands on the Constitution of Sierra Leone, Chapter (vi) The Legislature, qualifications for membership of Parliament, (d) it reads; is able to speak and to read the English Language with a degree of proficiency sufficient to enable him to take an active part in the proceedings of Parliament shall be qualified for election, is that the case today? Were money (s) takes a center stage to get symbol to go to Parliament, at the detriment of voters that will be having a weaker representation in the House of Parliament.

Bra Parrot is of the view that, from the quotation above, a good number of those wanting to go to Parliament today are even not qualify because they cannot speak good not to talk about better English which is one of the requirements.

What the brave bird has also noticed is that, government after government Civil Servants are always in the campaign trains of political parties be it APC or SLPP, which is against the Civil Service code of ethics, which says; anybody who receives salary form the consolidated revenue funds is a civil servant and should not take part in polities or an election campaign.

The brave bird will not even hesitate to say that, the narrative has changed completely, now Permanent Secretaries (PS), Directors of government, Commissioners of government and even Men/Women of God wants to go to Parliament and are seen campaigning openly for past and even present governments.

Bra Parrot also sounded the views of political analysts and this is what they say to the brave bird, the allegations people are talking about maybe they are partly correct because Parliament determined their salaries, allowances, sitting fee, Committee sitting  allowances, Constituency allowance and other allowances, this is more the reason why everybody is rushing to go to Parliament even market-women, Kekeh riders, okada riders, Teachers who are supposed to be in classrooms, Lawyers who are also supposed be in Court rooms are all rushing to go to Parliament he concluded.

Bra Parrot has the greatest respect for the House of Parliament and all members of Parliament only that, the brave bird call things by their correct names.

The brave bird is not against anybody going to Parliament, the bird want those going to Parliament MUST represent the people that voted them, that is all the brave bird is advocating for.  Welcome new Members, well done to those who did well in the last Parliament.
