The only thing one will have to say about Bra Parrot is that he talks too much or he is very inquisitive by nature.
Notwithstanding all that, people still love him for other important reasons, which is why they’re always eager to read his articles because they believe the wise bird has never told lies for fear of damaging his hard earned reputation.
By the way Bra Parrot is not a businessman but loves business people because they’re all Sierra Leoneans.
It goes without saying that, doing business is to maximize profit which is why government is not supposed to venture into at all.
Bra Parrot is bringing this scenario to the fore because if government is the owner of these new buses and knows very well that they are not run for profit making purposes they shouldn’t have increased transport fare above the private sector or commercial transportation.
Every Sierra Leonean was expecting government transport price to be as low as NLe3 or Le4 at least per person from one point to the other (pole to pole) but disappointingly that wasn’t the case.
As usual, the brave bird went out to get the views and the correct information about the buses whether there are indeed owned or run by government or private company.
Folks, guess what? The information the wise bird got made him to sleep insistently from where he seated, that the buses are not owned by the government only that it monitors and supervises it operations.
It’s understood that these buses are managed by a private company called Metro Transport company and that the buses were allegedly bought by the World Bank.
For the past few days, the wise bird understood that the buses were on a trial run free of charge.
The other information that confused Bra Parrot was that, the buses are directly owned by a number of private transport owners including Motor Drivers’ Union with 30% shares, Poda-poda and bus owners with 40% shares, Passengers’ Welfare with 15% shares, Kekeh Union with10% while other private transport owners have 5% shares.
Bra Parrot was also informed about the Nle10 price which many people had earlier misinterpreted to be a two way fare.
But that issue or doubt has now been made very clear that it’s meant for one only way, however the fare is subject to be reviewed.
However, the wise bird went to Texaco Lorry Park to get the views of the Drivers’ Union president but to no avail.
