The spate of criminal activities of armed robbers and other hard core criminals is once again becoming worrisome especially for city dwellers that remain in constant fear especially at night.
The curious and security conscious Parrot who crisscross the city almost every night, has discovered that all economic activities are paralyzed especially at night thus subjecting him and the rest of his fellow residents to spending sleepless nights as a result of these criminal’s activities.
From east, central to the west part of the capital, Freetown, the stories the Bird heard from the anxious people are the same, given that robbers often waylay their homes during nightfall waiting to strike with the slightest opportunity.
“These hopeless marauding criminals have forced some of us to spend sleepless nights in order to resist any time they strike,” the people told Bra Parrot in frightened but determined mood.
In some cases, they admitted, all efforts are useless because the robbers are always armed to the teeth and cannot dare withstand them for their safety.
In certain quarters of the city, some people told the bird some disturbing tale about police night patrol team ganging up with the robbers to cause mayhem on innocent citizens.
Bra Parrot is not in any case justifying what the people have told him but quite honestly, the brave bird used to see the police patrol teams everywhere in the city at night but yet, armed robbers continue to wreak havoc on his poor people.
According to what the security conscious animal has gathered so far from his intensive investigation; armed robbery is heightened mainly in the eastern part of the capital, Calaba Town to be specific on to Waterloo at the outskirt of Freetown.
In Campbell Town community, Waterloo, many concerned residents have described it as safe haven for these criminals, noting that the area is so dangerous that it is difficult for even security personnel to infiltrate less to talk of armless civilians.
These notorious armed robbers are said to be armed with dangerous weapons including guns to carry out their operations.
The big question baffling innocent citizens is where these armed robbers are getting these weapons.
Without prejudice, it seems the government is not taking the lives and property of its citizens seriously.
Most of the people the bird contacted for their opinions were very bitter with the system, saying that the activities of these armed robbers are increasingly becoming unacceptable and unbearable for them.
The bird is therefore calling on the government to put more seriousness on the security sector for the general protection of the innocent and peaceful citizens.
