Credible reports filtering into the news desk of Africa24 have revealed that the Sierra Leone Police has issued out a further warrant of arrest for one Sheku Kamara who was allegedly accused to have ignited the August 10, 2022 protest against the State.
Africa24 can authoritatively disclosed that Sheku Kamara’s family is currently facing intimidation, harassment and death threat by thugs loyal to the ruling government of President Julius Maada Bio.
A close family source, informed Africa 24 that they are now living in constant fear, another sources added that due to the harassment and death threat on their lives members of his family have gone into hiding. Sheku lost one of his children on 8th November, 2022.
Africa24 also discovered that Sheku Kamara’s bank account has been frozen by the State in order to prevent him, not to withdraw any cash in proxy.
Reports added that Sheku Kamara who narrowly escaped death with the skin of his teeth could have been a dead man had it not been for his miraculous escape on that fateful day.
Protesters were chanting for the removal of President Julius Maada Bio to relinquish power, according to them he has brought unbearable hardship to the country.
According to our investigation, Sheku Kamara played active role in resisting State security apparatus that were deployed to calm down the unrest.
Reports further added that, Sheku Kamara was a vibrant supporter of the main opposition All People’s Congress(APC), party and was accused by the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) as one of the key players that orchestrated the August 10, 2022 protest against the State.
The August 10, 2022 protest left many civilians dead, the burning down of state properties including a police station in Kamakwie and the protesters were allegedly accused of the killing of six police officers, as one among them was set ablaze.
The government referred to the protesters as coup plotters, which is a treasonable offence that is liable to a long term sentence or death.
