Brighter Horizon organization has aided the Sierra Leone Polio Association (SLPA) with items worth millions of Leones.
Part of the help was Horizon’s production of a specialized video documentary which captures SLPA’s games and activities and was freely given to polio association.
Brighter Horizon said they did that in a bid to promoting the dream of helping the sporting disciplines in the country.
The Chief Executive Officer, Erick Rasmussen, says he is joining his colleagues in a global level from the Denmark television station to conduct a video documentary and also to sign new agreement with the Sierra Leone Polio Football club.
SLFC is situated at Cole Town in the Western Area Rural District, Waterloo.
The CEO, Lamin Vidal Koroma aka network general, made the comments during a football exhibition game which was organized by the founder and technical coach of the Sierra Leone polio football club.
The remarkable video documentary by CEO Erick & team was graced by Pink Power organization staff and members of Sierra Leone Polio Football Club and other spectators.
The football exhibition game which ended 1-0 in favour of the host, Polio FC against Brighter Horizon was played at the Baptist model primary school, Cole town, on Wednesday, 14th February, 2024.
It was followed in honor of the presentation of the long awaited items by the participants.
The match was played for 15 -15 minutes and Murtarr Bassie scored the winning goal for the home team.
Speaking after the game, Coach Lamin Vidal Koroma, commended both teams for their superb performance.
He said his players had demonstrated resilience and total courage over the years and all indications are visible as they render top players in the national team than any other Amputee football club in Sierra Leone.
That is despite being neglected by the Ministry of Sports, by SLFA and other sporting bodies.
“My Amputee team is currently the best national team in Sierra Leone. My first trophy with these players was the CAMA cup which we won with an unbeaten record in 2013.
“As a team, we have won several desirable trophies and other nationwide football tournaments across the country in a bid to scouting young amputee players who could be useful players to represent the green, white and blue flag at both local and international level,” Coach Vidal affirmed.
Coach Vidal added that Brighter Horizon was an umbrella organization for both Pink Power organization and the Sierra Leone Polio Football club with support from CEO Erick and team.
He said some players belong to the Sierra Leone Polio Football club but, Brighter Horizon organization is the supporting pillar while Pink Power organization was created mainly to provide financial, technical and logistical support to marginalized groups, especially for women and girls.
The CEO said he would definitely continue with the testing and giving out of free treatments to victims of HIV/AIDS and support to other victims suffering from other kinds of complications across the country.
He said the main motive behind his visit to the Polio FC camp was to discuss pertinent issues around building permanent home, promoting health, and education, providing food under the current economic constraints and works towards how the new contract can improve standards for the Sierra Leone Polio Football Club.
Manager Erick assured the Sierra Leone Polio football club of his continuous unflinching support and vowed to bring more experts to structure the team to meet international standards.
In his quick updates, the captain of the Sierra Leone Polio Football Club, Gbassay Koroma, congratulated the visitors from Denmark for sustaining the team in diverse ways throughout this trying moment.
He further stated that the Management of Polio FC has always been demonstrating readiness and commitment in addressing economic issues affecting amputee players and other vulnerable citizens.
He, however; commended the Technical Coach for his flexibility in championing disabled affairs. He also applauded the CEO of Brighter Horizon for his humanitarian assistance to the team despite the huge challenges they have been facing.
