Mohamed Amara, a businessman has made his first appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road Court No.2 in Freetown.
He was standing on a count charge of fraudulent conversion contrary to Section 20 (1) (iv) (a) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of offence, sometimes in July 2024 at #3 Macdonald Street in the Western Area in Freetown, the suspect fraudulently converted to his own use or benefit certain property two small printers valued at ten thousand Leones entrusted to him by Lawyer Emmanuel Teddy Koroma, Esq to be sold.
When the charge was read and explained to the accused, no plea taken.
The prosecutor Sergeant 3379 Theresa Ballay sought for a short adjournment date because her witness was absent.
The accused was not legally represented.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Bangura refused bail based on the weight of the offence charged and sent the accused to the male correctional facility in Freetown, while the matter was adjourned to 3rd April 2025.
