One of the leading aspirants for the flagpost of All People’s Congress, APC party in the country, Dr. Ibrahim Bangura is sponsoring a gala going with his name Dr Ibrahim Bangura Trophy and it has kicked off on Sunday, 9th March, 2025 at the Tree planting playing field in Freetown.

Speaking to the Chairman of Elders Committee at Tree Planting, Bockarie Conteh, he said the eight communities would partake in this year’s ‘Dr. Ibrahim Bangura’s Ramadan Trophy in the Western Area, Freetown.

The participating teams are Kassada farm Community, Leicester road, Tree planting, Botany FC, Mountain All-stars, Kamara Lane FC and others.

He is the right man for the top job. Dr. Bangura will change the narrative of soccer in the country,” he explained.

Nannah Kargbo, a fan of Tree planting community FC, said football will unite a nation, adding that Dr. Bangura’s intervention is timely.

The pitch is however bad for players, he noted. “APC party must vote in Dr. Bangura as flagbearer candidate come 2026 delegate conference because of his good track record over the years. He believes in promoting talents of youth for a nation building,” she said.

According to the Sporting Director of Tree Planting who also doubles as Chairman Elders Committee, Mr. Alimamy Bangura said the tournament is meant to bring football fans together in the community.

He noted that Dr. Bangura Ramanda trophy is key to all supporters and followers of team DIB.

“I am a legal delegate member of APC constituency 124 and we are calling on all delegates to vote for Dr. Ibrahim Bangura come 2026 convention,” he requested.
