In his humanitarian drive to capacity educational institutions in Bombali District, Northern Sierra Leone, Doctor Roland Turay dubbed “Bombali Philanthropist” on Sunday 20th October, 2024, donated another consignment of some bags of cement to the School of Clinical Sciences at Makambo on the outskirts of Makeni city.
It could be recalled that, this is the second consignment of cement brought to the college by Dr. Roland to support in the construction of an additional block to the Science Institute.
Speaking during the donation ceremony at the college campus, Dr Roland Turay challenged other Sierra Leoneans in the diaspora to return home and join in the reconstruction process of the only country they call their home. He allayed their fears of being bewitched or intimidated by their compatriots back home. “Look at me here, I have returned for years and doing my bits to improve the social wellbeing of my people”, the former UN Diplomat noted.
He promised to do his best to capacitate the youth in the district and beyond to become self-reliance in future stressing that he has sponsored many guys to acquire skills at OIC in Makeni. The humanitarian icon maintained that, the cement donation is to help the college meet the growing number of students who are eager to get access to the only Science University in the north.
Giving a short statement on behalf of the Principal of the University, Dr Prince Taiwo Roberts, the Administrative Secretary of the College, Florence Fatu Tarawalie emphasized that, they were very much impressed with the effort shown by Dr. Roland towards the transformation of the college, noting that the donation had come at the right time.
She commended the learned philanthropist for his contributions to ensure that the college edifice is upgraded and becomes attractive to students.
She appealed to Dr. Turay to continue his assistance drive to the college and to stick on the same breath by calling on other patriotic Sierra Leoneans to emulate his efforts.
