The wise bird has been following the issue of poor borders in the country with keen interest, because it is a national concern to both the government and by extension the people of Sierra Leone.

The most respected animal has been reliably informed that, the Minister of Internal Affairs, former AIG Morie Lengor visited the town of Gendema to get firsthand information on the ground.

According to the report the bird got, during the Minister’s engagement with officials in the area, he expressed concern and dissatisfaction over the reports he has been getting that, drugs are being trafficked through that area to the neighboring country of Liberia.

The Minister further expressed that, government is very serious about transnational Organized Crime, especially when it comes to drug trafficking in the country.

The report further states that, the Minister made it clear that, it is the duty and responsibility of every law enforcement officers deployed at the border to ensure that, no drug or contraband are trafficked in any part of the Sierra Leone Community.

He added that, immediate and stringent actions should be taken against anybody involved in that illegal act.

He admonished the officials especially the authorized body and those authorized to enforce the law; he also urged that more vigilant action to duty is need by them the report says.

Furthermore the report state that, the Minister encouraged the officials to seriously continue serving diligently for the dignity and respect of the country the report says.

The bird as usual when he received any news of national interest, he will go out to get the views of soba minded people especially when it is of public concern.

All the people the bird came in contact with expressed dismay over past and present `government that they knew about what has been going on in those border areas in terms of trafficking of drugs but pretending not to know.

The people further added that, the people in those areas and law enforcement agencies (police) are working hand-in-gloves to commit the crime and they know all where the drugs are coming from and where they are going to.

The bird will love to see how the present Minister will work out miracles to stop drug trafficking in that area.
