Institutions, they say, cannot stand by themselves without the effort of a particular individual or a team work.
This is exactly what the Divisional Traffic Officer in Grafton Division Inspector Mohamed Bangura and team have done as he and his team has continued to work assiduously to change the face of Jui old makeshift structure that has been used for traffic operations to a modernized structure, which has helped to add respect and value to traffic operations in that area.
In an interview with DTO Bangura on various issues relating to traffic operations at Jui more so being a strategic area linking Freetown, DTO Bangura confirmed that indeed Jui is a very busy area in terms of traffic given that the area is populated.
The DTO said he is not an armed chair leader which is why he doesn’t often sits at his Grafton police station office and dictate things to his juniors. “I am always found at Jui junction where the traffic is always congested,” DTO Bangura said, while expressing praise to his hard working team headed by his abled operation officer, Inspector Umaru Koroma. He said he has a strong working team which has and still continued to help them with the enormous traffic challenges they are facing at Jui.
When asked how he transformed the traffic make-shift structure to a modernized and admirable one, DTO Bangura said the police have long been transformed to community policing. He said when he took over as DTO in Grafton Division on 24 March 2023, he saw the need to change the face of Jui, given that good working environment counts a lot to enable workers to carry out effective work. The structure that housed traffic unit at Jui was a mere zinc structure that leaks all over. “I believe in transformation, which is why I hang heads with my team and knock on doors for assistance when necessary and it has started to yield fruits.
“Thanks to Allah with the help of the public we were able to complete this building,” the DTO stated.
Asked what are the challenges he is facing, he said there challenges are almost over since street traders who were given them headache have been dislocated, expressing appreciation God and the support he is getting from his boss Inspector General of police William Fayia Sellu and his hard working Director of Traffic Commissioner Abdul Moijueh and his operations team.
The traffic now flows easily as predestines now walk freely without fear of accident.
