It could be recalled that former President Ernest Bai Koroma has described his colleagues All People’s Congress (APC) party politicians as “Munku” Politicians.
The current Chairman of the APC, Minkailu Mansaray who led the delegation to visit Former President was among those Ernest Bai Koroma perceived as a “munku” politician.
Their visit to Nigeria has been attributed by the party’s grassroots as a ploy to ensure that he re-emerge as the next flagbearer of the party.
Rumours told this medium that, EBK is planning a comeback to power but others have also planned to resist the said plan by the executive and Ernest Bai Koroma to either show up as candidate for the party come 2028 general elections.
The high-level delegation from the All People’s Congress (APC) Party in Sierra Leone has safely arrived in Abuja, Nigeria, to visit former President Ernest Bai Koroma, who was away on leave in Nigeria for medical treatment.
The delegation includes APC National Chairman Hon. Minkailu Mansaray, Deputy National Chairman, National Secretary General, and National Publicity Secretary.
Their primary objective is to connect with the former leader and assess his well-being as he undergoes medical care.
On their visit, the APC delegation was expected to engage with the former president to discuss key party matters and provide moral support.
Ernest Bai Koroma, who led Sierra Leone from 2007 to 2018, remains a significant figure in the country’s political landscape, and his health status, has been a subject of concern among party members and supporters.
The legal representatives for former President Ernest Bai Koroma submitted an official request to the court, seeking permission for their client to travel to the Federal Republic of Nigeria on medical grounds.
The court scrutinized the authenticity of the claim being put forth by Koroma’s legal team.
Many suggested that the legal proceedings are underway to determine the merit of the application.
According to insights in a recent development, legal representatives for former President Ernest Bai Koroma submitted an official request to the court, seeking permission for their client to travel to the Federal Republic of Nigeria on medical grounds.

According to insights from West African diplomats stationed in Freetown, the Sierra Leone Government signaled a preliminary willingness to consider former President Koroma’s departure then from the country for medical reasons. However, this approval hinges on the court’s decision regarding the application.
Notably, Dr. Omar Alieu Touray, the President of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), was in Freetown to finalize arrangements for Former President Koroma’s medical trip to Nigeria.
Judicial sources have indicated that the court anticipated delivering the ruling on the application later this week, providing clarity on whether or not the former President will be allowed to travel abroad for medical treatment.
It is essential to note that Former President Koroma is currently facing serious charges, having been formally accused of four counts, including treason, misprision of treason, and harboring.
His second court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday, January 17, 2024.
