The opposition Chief Whip in Parliament, Abdul Karim Kamara (AKK) has insisted that: “The current situation of Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) needs the urgent intervention of Pastors to pray to save the important entity from collapse”
According to Hon AKK, EDSA has not only failed to provide electricity in the capital city but regrettably failed to provide sustainable electricity in hospitals less to talk of rural communities.
Many have attributed the current situation of EDSA though headed by President Bio himself to lack of experience to mismanagement thus the resultant effect has been perpetual darkness.
The opposition Parliamentarian has also expressed dismay over the lack of electricity especially in Lungi township being considered as a gateway in and out of the country.
Hon Kargbo said Lungi used to have abundant electricity supply but since the SLPP regime took power in 2019 the supply of electricity in that area remains a major challenge as the township remains in darkest.
“Mr. Speaker not that there are no thermal plants machines across towns and cities but EDSA still cannot able to provide fuel to those machines,” Hon Kargbo revealed in anger.
He therefore urged those appointed in the electricity sector to work towards restoring the past glory of electricity supply across Sierra Leone.
Hon Abdul Kargbo acknowledged that the problem faced by Sierra Leoneans today is not just coming from a single political party but both past and present.
He said it is a disservice to Sierra Leoneans if people appointed to face the challenges cannot yield any dividends or providing the expected results.
He therefore pleaded with this generation to do justice to Sierra Leone and its people.
Meanwhile, a senior ruling Parliamentarian from Kono District, Hon. Emerson Saa Lamina has heaped praises on President Julius Maada Bio for providing sustained electricity supply in Koidu City.
“For the first in the history of Sierra Leone Kono enjoys uninterrupted electricity supply” he proudly added.
He revealed how Kono District was neglected during the APC era, even though it’s considered being a bread basket of the nation.
He therefore urged all appointees to work towards assisting President Bio to succeed and win elections again and again.
Other Parliamentarians made salient statements regarding the successes of President Bio.
