One of the strongest female member of the oppopstion All People’s Congress party, the former Minister of Lands and Housing and Country Planning in former President Ernest Bai Koroma’s regime, Finda Diana Konomanyi has in a public statement urged Dr. Samura Kamara to tell citizens the truth about his electoral justice fight.
She made the call in Falaba district while addressing a number of their party supporters and members.
According to the former minister, ” it’s only Dr. Samura Kamara that can tell the people of Sierra Leone about the Electoral justice he is fighting for.”
Madam Konomanyi pointed out that “SLPP is in governance, whether they won or they didn’t win the election, the fact remains that they are governing, and they should now forget and work continue to for the 2028 elections.
“Dr. Samura Kamara, I know you are popular, if you don’t think of yourself, think of your children or your family that you leave in politics, you need not leave them for you to be remembered that you injected bad blood in the politics of SierraLeone,”she admonished.
According to her, Dr. Samura Kamara has a lot of strong party members who believe in his electoral justice and as a result of their loyalty to him, they don’t even want to participate to contest in the party’s lower level elections, a move she said, will cause them to lose elective party’s positions.
Diana Konomanyi emphasized the need for this electoral justice battle to be folded up as according to her, they need now to focus their attention on the implementation of the 80 Tripartite recommendations.
The influential female politician however described Dr. Samura Kamara’s electoral justice call as a
“False Gospel.”
She also rejected the notion that the
2023 presidential election results will be overturned to swear in Dr. Samura Kamara.
She maintained that it’s only when Dr. Samura Kamara come out and tell his supporters about the electoral justice how prospective it is.
On the other hand, Mohamed Warisay, an electoral justice advocate PRO who is based in the US, lambasted Diana Konomanyi for publicly criticising Dr. Samura Kamara’s electoral justice fight.
Mr. Warisay also noted that Diana Konomanyi’s inability to comprehend what is in the Tripartite recommendations has caused her not to see behind her nose.
He said the recent tweet of EU regarding the 85 recommendations of the Tripartite should have given Madam Diana Konomanyi the foresight to know that Dr. Samura Kamara is brilliantly on the right path.
The fight for electoral justice has been seriously contested not only by the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party but also APC members and supporters, arguing that it’s a hoax designed by the Dr. Samura Kamara’s faction to continue holding on to the party for his personal aggrandizement.
