According to reports reaching Africa 24 news desk, the Everybody Must Farm project members in Sierra Leone are considered patriotic working for state establishment and creating decent jobs for the vulnerable youth especially the women and persons with disabilities in the agriculture sector.
Further reports disclosed that the District Agriculture Officer of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security in Kenema District, Phillip Conteh, has on Monday 24th July, 2023, officially unveiled and blessed EMF first district farm on vegetables and cassava in Nongowa Chiefdom, Kenema District.
During a brief interview with John Albert Tucker, District Field Agriculture Officer of Everybody Must Farm (EMF) and a beneficiary of the International Labour Organization (ILO) GET-Ahead Women’s Entrepreneurship Development Training of Trainers workshop for Everybody Must Farm members in Kenema District, he said that the knowledge gained during that five days training sessions facilitated by Samuel Kenneh Jr. and James Solomon Koroma and that the key advises of the Founder and President of EMF, Sfano Njawa Sesay is directed towards building entrepreneurship knowledge and skills among farmers in the informal sector by national patriotic approach that has led to the establishment of the EMF District farms on vegetables and cassava in Kenema District.
DFAO Tucker further disclosed that the EMF is working on various farm sites on vegetables, cassava, oil palm and cocoa in all fifteen chiefdoms in that district.
DFAO Tucker added that he is grateful to EMF leadership and ILO for the opportunity accorded to acquire knowledge during a training program and the leadership motivation of Sfano Njawa Sesay for the establishment of the EMF district farms on vegetables and cassava in Nongowa Chiefdom, Kenema District that is also considered as a state farm project by EMF.
On his part, Philip Conteh congratulated the vegetables and cassava farmers of Everybody Must Farm, Kenema District for their patriotic approach by helping the nation in food self-sufficiency and food security.
DAO Conteh assured members of Everybody Must Farm that the Ministry of Agriculture will be very supportive to their course and further encouraged them to expand their farms with a dynamic agriculture and agribusiness approach.
