Locals within the Ackram dumping site continue to cry out to Government for the relocation of the site to another place. They simply want a help to save them from the continues smell they are suffering from almost every day.
What has created more discomforts for these residents is the environmental pollution. The smoke which is coming out from the dustbin is affecting them a lot.
Talking to this reporter residents living within the Akram dumping site community continues to cry out for help to the appropriate authorities responsible for waste management.
They said the smoke coming out of the dumping site is so much stronger.
And this may lead to lung sickness if not controlled at once. Residents say it is a shame to Sierra Leone for a dumping site to be situated at the heart of the capital.
A foreign national who spoke to this reporter on annonimity said Sierra Leone is part of the global village and government of this nation has signed many treaties relating to the control environmental pollution.
They ask why is that the government cannot replicate global clean energy practices to Sierra Leone’s situation by saving the lives of it citizens.
He further emphasized that government could turn the dumping site to a gas industry which would help create jobs for the youths.
And can equally generate income for the government which will help to boost its gross domestic product (GDP).
