One of the reputable football clubs in Sierra Leone, FC Kallon, has managed to progress to the next stage of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup competition, luckily without touching a ball.
This fortunate and interesting development surfaced as a result of their opponent AS DOUANES of Niger’s withdrawal from the competition due to their country’s political unrest.
Many football pundits, though, have considered Kallon’s chances as a very weak way of qualifying in Africa’s tightest tournament.
It is the club’s first time opportunity in the history of football in Sierra Leone football race.
But, fans of Kallon FC have welcomed the news with joy, while giving deaf ears on their critics.
However, Kallon FC will now play the winner between MILO FC from Guinea and DREAMS FC from Ghana, in the second preliminary round of Africa’s TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup.
In another development, FC Kallon will host all their home matches in Bo Southern Arena, with a six thousand capacity which is based in Bo City, south of Sierra Leone.
This is because the national stadium in Freetown is unfit for hosting international games at the moment as it is still under renovation.
