A resident from the many mines hills of Koinadugu District north of Sierra Leone, is very unhappy because the mineral resources in his motherland are not beneficial to the country and the people of Sierra Leone.

“If you go to” Ferengbeya” you will see the Whites shipping our mineral resources to their countries without anyone knowing the quality of the valuable – black dust (iron ore) they have been stealing without getting to know if they are paying for it, “he said.

“They would tell you they are on test operation as they load containers filled with iron ore enrouting the seas from Sierra Leone through Europe and in other White countries,” he added.

The man who is roughly in his early 60s was expressing his frustration about his country’s wrongful mining policies signed by governments, in and out, with external corporate investors.

He believed strongly that his country, Sierra Leone, would never develop as he doubts the manner in which mining deposits are shipped to overseas without proper agreement with the government of Sierra Leone and the people.

“A friend had asked me from America that if we (Sierra Leoneans) are monkeys to be so stupid enough to have allowed the Whites to Ship into containers our iron ore from Ferengbeya to elsewhere in Europe without any explanation on its value or without knowing how much money those Whites investors have paid to the government for taking our mineral resources to overseas to sell.

“They would often lie to the people in that part of the country that they only take the shipments in 40-ft containers for testing or to be tested in oversea… How can that be true?” “How can we be so stupid as Sierra Leoneans?”
