Bra Parrot was moving from West to the East this morning passing along Fourah Bay road to the far east to see what is going on in that part of the city.
Reaching at Fourah Bay road, Magazine-cut junction, the brave bird saw a pile of garbage littered on the ground, the brave bird stood for some time to see whether workers from the Freetown City Council will clear the rubbish on the ground.
But unfortunately, nothing was done in that regard. The brave bird spoke to one of the traders along the Fourah Bay road who gave his name as Sulaiman he said that, the garbage has been in that place for almost a week or two now.
Bra Parrot tried to contact Freetown City Council, but unfortunately the Mayor is no longer on her seat, together with the Councillor of the area.
The brave bird went back sadly to its usual sitting place, the Cotton tree. And while at the Cotton tree, looking down, Bra Parrot saw a vehicle with the inscription MASADA, the brave bird flew down to talk to the driver and, the driver said that, it is not their area of operation and that, the city is divided into three, East, West and Central.
Bra Parrot flew down to the Freetown City Council and spoke to one Senior Officer, who refused to give his name for security reasons. This is what he said I quote “we are working under very serious and difficult conditions as the government pays little or no attention to the council these days.”
“From the look of things, government had forgotten about the council, when the brave bird tried to push further, the man said in local parlance “nor gie me trouble ya padi,” the brave bird tried again to push more and, the man said “we have very few trucks and sometimes to get them running is another challenge everybody is busy with the elections process these days.” Bra Parrot asked, “will the Council continue like that?” and the man said “that is a question for the government to answer and not me.”
Bra Parrot did not stop at that, the brave bird flew all the way to Wellington, Calabatown axis and it is the same situation, and to the far west is nothing good to write home about.
Bra Parrot will vividly remember that, during the early days of SLPP, brand new trucks were parading the city painted in green, “where are all those trucks the brave bird asked?”
Bra Parrot is drawing the attention of the general public that, the national cleaning that was in force when the SLPP came to power early 2018 died a natural death because of poor management of funds, after billions of Leones have been misused by both senior and junior members of the SLPP.
The brave bird will easily conclude by saying that, it is more the reason the economy is in shambles today because of the billions of Leones misused in the early days of the SLPP in what they referred to as national cleaning.
Bra Parrot is finding it very difficult to quantify the whopping amount of money that was misused during the so-called national cleaning.
