The wise bird has been reliably informed that, government through the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources have lifted the ban on Artisanal fishing.

It could be recalled that, a ban was placed on all fishing activities in the country by government, the ban was in line with section 10, sub-section 2b of the fisheries and  Aquaculture Act of 2018.

According to the above sections that, the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources shall institute a one month nationwide closure on Artisanal fishing activities.

From information received by the bird, the closure was to restrain all fishing activities for a period of one month, effective 1st to 20th February 2025.

The most respected animal feel pleased with government for lifting the ban this is to show that, the government has the people at heart.

The bird went out as usual to sound the views of the people on all important national issues; most of the people the bird met have mixed reaction on the issue.

Some are in support of the government because according to them, the government acted in line with the laws of the land.

Others out rightly condemn, saying government has deprived the people of their rights to get their living, because laws are made by man so they are subject to be amendment the people opine.

The bird only hopes that, in future, the government will take the interest of the people first before whatever sections of the laws.
