It was a U-turn in the well of Parliament when the Deputy Leader of Government Business who is also an MP representing Bo District, Hon. Bashiru Silikie called on the Members of Parliament from the opposition bench to vote for Bai Mamoud Bangura as flagbearer for the All People’s Congress party.

During the approval of Presidential nominee, the MP recognized Bai Mamoud Bangura as a young man who he described as a patriot.

The former Youth Minister had accompanied his brother who was appointed by President Maada Bio as Board Chairman of the Sierra Leone Maritime Administration.

Bai Mamoud Bangura’s accolades from the SLPP bench in Parliament raised serious questions among many MPs from the opposition.

As former Minister of Youth in the Ernest Bia Koroma’s APC regime, performed extremely well even though some Sierra Leoneans criticized him for the failed ‘Youth Farm’s’ projects.

Bai Mamoud Bangura is now expressing interest for the high office of the land and his flagship interest has attracted interest mostly from the SLPP bench in Parliament.

His accolades from Bashiru Silikie from the SLPP are a testament to his raptor and his mixed emotions to all and sundry.

Currently, Bai Mamoud Bangura is the acting Chairman of the APC party, a position that he will hold until the Chairman and Leader of the party and his delegation return from Nigeria.

The journey of Bai Mamoud Bangura remains challenging especially the flagship interest because most of those who have vying for the said position are referred to as supermen.

Many have raised serious concern as why everyone in the APC wants to become president, an ambition many insist will be difficult to achieve if the party fails to unite and choose single candidate to challenge the SLPP in 2028.

In Kambia District alone, over four APC stalwarts have expressed interest for the flagbearer position and are all brothers.

The battle of supremacy has just begun as many others are hanging around to contest for the highest office.

Meanwhile, it has been gathered that Mr. Bai Mamoud Bangura has gained popularity among especially the party youths who widely believe his chances of winning the race is high.
