15-years-old Milford King, a plumber and Nyakeh Lahai Kallon, a Manson,had made their first appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No.1 Freetown.
They were standing in court on two count charges of house breaking and larceny contrary to section 25(1) of the larceny Act 1916.
According to the charge statement on Monday the 3rd March, 2025, at no.3 Kamara Drive, Milton Margai college Road Freetown, broke and entered into the dwelling house of Amina Mans and stole a fiscal cash of four thousand new Leone property of Amina Mans.
Cout two on the above date and place both broke and entered into the dwelling house of miss Sarika Kamara and stole one engagement gold and diamond ring valued at thousand United States dollars of about ($200) which is equivalent to two thousand four hundred Leones, also one apple earpodpro valued two hundred United States dollars ($200) equivalent to four thousand eight hundred and eighty Leones, one big tin body vaseline valued at five hundred new Leone, one HP computer valued at five thousand new Leone, on hard drive ITB valued two thousand four hundred and Forty Leones and other assorted items all to the total valued of thirty nine thousand eight hundred and seventy Leones, property of Sarika Kamara.
When the charge was read to them, no plea was taken.
Inspector Bangura M.led in witness No.1 Amina Musa who is a businesswoman recognized the accused persons in the duck and the complainant as her son.
She did recount that on 3rd March, 2025, she was at her shop when Marissa mans her daughter called and give her information.
She said upon her arrival at home,she discovered that the veranda ceiling, dinning room ceiling, her daughter’s room and her room’s ceiling were badly damaged.
When she went inside her kitchen door it was damaged too and her room door was made open.
She decided to enter inside her room and she saw her bed all messed up.
Her church bag, she said, which was having some money with the sum of three thousand new Leones was missing.
That bag was on the bed and a church “tight card” were all placed on her bed. She was having a box where she kept money that contains one thousand new Leone but when opened, the money was gone.
She further said that after searching her room she found one different shirt on her bed.
She then called her daughter to inform her son’s friend who is George.
And upon arrival George said he was going to investigate the theft in respect of the shirt stolen and other missing items.
So he went to Milford King house and met his father where she showed him the shirt which he identified as belonging to his son.
She said Milford was arrested by George and brought to the scene when she left them and went to the Adonkia police station and made a report.
She was accompanied by the police officer to her house where they arrested Milford and brought him to the police station where she made a statement.
Defense counsel applied for bail application on behalf of the accused person.
However, magistrate Kekura granted bail to the first accused in the sum of one hundred Leones and one sureties.
Asking that the surety should be resident within the jurisdiction and provide valid identity card.
While bail was refused for the second accused person, and matter was adjourned to April 1st,2025.
