Mohamed Turay, a labourer, Ishmael Sesay, Private Security officer, Charles f Yonjai IT technician and Sahr Kamanda a business man made another appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road court No. 1 in Freetown.
They stood on three count charges to wit Conspiracy contrary to law, Store Breaking and larceny contrary to section 26 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916 and Receiving stolen goods contrary to section 33 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of offence on the 12th September 2023 at the ECSL Wellington
Branch the western area in Freetown conspired together and with other persons unknown to commit a felony to wit store breaking and larceny: on count two the accused persons on the above date and place with intent to steal broke and stole one hundred and forty two tablets value four million one hundred and ten
Kenya Shillings equivalent to millions of leones properties of the Electoral commission Sierra Leone.
Count three further alleged that the accused persons on a date in September at PMB Wellington the western area in Freetown did received eleven ECSL Tablets valued three hundred and eighteen thousand five hundred and thirty-eight Keneya’s shillings equivalent to hundreds of thousands of Leones from Mohamed Turay knowing same to have been stolen.
When the charges was read and explained to the accused persons no plea taken
Magistrate Kekura delivered his ruling said the prosecution has established sufficient evidence presented before him to warrant a committal to the High court against the accused persons and due to the confessional statement the 1st, 2nd and 4th made at the police station.
They admitted stealing the tablet whilst the 3rd accused person said the it was a rumors that the first accused knock on his door before he went to steal the tablet through the window why he didn’t put a stop to that before then the matter was committed to the high court for trial.
The bail for all the accused persons continues. Assistant Superintendent of police Ibrahim S Mansaray prosecuted the matter.
