Bra Parrot has been following the operations and or activities of government institutions over the last few years in order to be able to report accurately about events relating to those institutions.

To the dismay of the brave bird it seems that, certain institutions are really under funded by governments, present or past, and that is why some of these institutions are under performing.

It is no secret that, no institution sets out by government will perform effectively without proper funding being provided by the government of the day.

The brave bird has noticed that, May a time people from the public sector are crying down some government institutions as non performing institutions to the expectations of the general public. But largely, the reason for those institutions not being able to perform well is because they do not have the required funding to operate effectively.

It is a fact that, any institution established by an Act of Parliament must have the fullest support from the government of the day and should be treated as such.

The first institution that comes to mind by the brave bird is a very notable institution called the INDEPENDENT MEDIA COMMISSION (IMC); an institution established by an Act of Parliament to regulate the activities and operations of all Media houses in the Country.

From the investigations of the wise bird it is clear that, the said institution is so much under funded by all governments in power, past and present and that sometimes renders IMC to be unable to perform to the expectations of the general public.

A friend of the brave bird, the Eagle visited the bird a week ago and during the process of their discussion the Eagle asked my friend, have you ever noticed that government after government pays little or no attention to the INDEPENDENT MEDIA COMMISSION (IMC) and which is why is more the reason the Commission levies heavy fines on newspapers and radio stations as stipulated by the Act, whenever they default to get money to run the institution?

Bra Parrot is really in sympathy with some of these institutions, the wise bird is of the view that, government should reduce some of his Ministers and Deputies to be able to take care of some viable institutions. At the moment the wage bill of the government is higher than the sky.

The brave bird is advising the government to divert some of the monies used in those institutions and Commissions that are not functional to be dole out to functional institutions like the IMC and many others.

Take for instance, the Peace Commission; it is of no use to set up a Commission of that kind at the detriment of tax payers’ monies, when looking as the present situation there no peace in the Country.

Some of the Commissions being set up by government have no use at all to say the least; they are set up just jobs for the boys.

The wise bird is not making a case for anybody or any institution, and people must not misunderstand the wise bird in pointing out issues that are just too common.
