Impeccable sources from Bumpeh Ngao have revealed the involvement of senior government officials in the litigated chieftaincy election. According to sources, the senior government officials have openly meddled in the affairs of the elections in the said chiefdom even though there is a court ruling given by Justice Ghanda of the High Court in Bo putting a hold on the inauguration of the embattled elected Paramount Chief.
One of the meddlers, the SDO is fully abreast with the Chieftaincy Act 2009, a document that is supposed to be his guide in making any decision/statement relating to any chieftaincy issue. It is disheartened to know that in his last meeting with the people of Bumpe under the guise of a security matter, he failed to convey the relevant sections and provisions in the said act to the people of Bumpe Ngao about the recognition of elected PC. Section 17 of the Chieftaincy Act 2009 is very clear on this it says “The recognition of the election of a Paramount Chief takes place after the Government has on the recommendation of the Minister, accepted the joint report of the Provincial Secretary and the Electoral Commission on the conduct of the election and such recognition shall be by- (a) the presentation of the staff of office by the President or any person deputed by him in that behalf and, (b) the publication of the election in the Gazette .
Messrs SDO and ONS, did you take into cognizance this relevant section of the Act before making such a statement that the Government has recognized the so-called PC elect. They have been asked to provide evidence of the Gazette to the people of Bumpe Ngao to ascertain their claims that the Government has recognized the PC elect.
Please stop fooling and meddling in this chieftaincy election in Bumpe Ngao.
They have also deliberately and woefully failed to know that a petition on the said election is before a honourable court of higher judicature for hearing and determination.
The people are unhappy with them and are bent on embarrassing them if they don’t stop meddling into their affairs.
