The developmentally oriented MP representing the people of Tonkolili district, Hon. Jawah Sesay, has over the weekend commissioned the construction of a hospital and a secondary school for the people of Tonklili district.
Buyan section in Sambaia chiefdom has benefitted from a first ever health clinic built in Konkorobaia village.
It will help salvage health issues affecting the nine villages in the chiefdom in Tonkolili district.
It was a historic ceremony spearheaded by Hon.Jaward as he spoke on the need for his district to have now a secondary school and a health centre.
“This is the first ever secondary school and a community health post to be constructed in this chiefdom with,” he said
Hon Jaward, including others, highlighted the importance of both projects for the livelihood of his people.
The lawmakers said the school would serve more than 30 villages as it would help to reduce school dropouts.
The school stands to reduce early child marriages and cut down on the rates of teenage pregnancy in the chiefdom.
Hon Jaward said the construction of the school would reduce the long-distance often covered by children to school and would also salvage the barriers between school-going kids and their parents.
The health center, he said, is another landmark project for the people of Konkorobaia village and the surrounding villages.
It will help address health-related issues for more than nine villages in the section and chiefdom, he said.
The program attracted paramount chiefs, community elders, youth, life, the leader of the opposition in parliament and other MPs.
