Concerned parents and a guardians have called on the newly appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr. Timothy Kabba to use his diplomatic skills in negotiating with foreign countries in the Gulf States, Middle East parts of Western Europe and Northern African countries to either send back home in dignity or free the hundreds of Sierra Leoneans detained in camps awaiting extradition for months or free them from incarceration.
Mr. James Kargbo of Kissy Brook in the East district of the Western Area upon visiting this medium said her only son has been in a Moroccan Camp for thirteen months arrested for illegal stay.
He said he is a daily victim of racist remarks every sunny day and forced to clean wreckage at the camp. Madam Abioseh Bangura said her daughter is still in detention in Dubai after she was caught working in a restaurant she said her employer has forwarded her residential application but still not forthcoming.
It could be recalled that both President Bio and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) has rescued Sierra Leoneans stranded in Lebanon but our source says there are hundreds more awaiting exit from Lebanon.
Some in Kuwait and Turkey are in hiding, others awaiting deportation from Germany, USA, and the U.K many are also stranded in many African countries. Some wanted to come back home but ashamed as they are financially empty. Sources say most of Sierra Leonean migration are law abiding only that some immigration officers take colour into consideration instead of humanity.
