Following a very successful roundtable dialogue session at the Country Lodge Resort in Freetown, aimed at showcasing potentials, achievements, challenges and investment opportunities in the fisheries and aquaculture sectors, a high- powered delegation, led by the deputy Director General – Fisheries Science, Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Dr. Joykrushna Jena has concluded a one-day familiarisation tour of aquaculture projects sites in the east, north, and southern regions of the country.
Addressing key stakeholders during the visits, India High Commissioner to Sierra Leone, H.E. Baisnab Charam Pradhan who accompanied the delegation, said they were in the country, to explore possible areas of intervention in the fields of aquaculture and fisheries with the ultimate aim of supporting the country’s Feed Salone flagship programme.
He re-echoed his country’s unwavering commitment to share its vast experience and expertise with Sierra Leone in the fields of fisheries and aquaculture through capacity building initiatives among others.
The High Commissioner appreciated steps taken by local communities to promote Fisheries and aquaculture, adding that they will do their utmost to boost the sector.
Representative of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Dr. Joykrushna Jena, stakeholders for the warm welcome accorded them and expressed optimism that with close collaboration and commitment, the two countries would stand to benefit from each other’s God- given potential.
In response, stakeholders in communities visited, including Masiaka, Bo, Potoru, and Kenema, expressed thanks and appreciation for the visits and looked forward to support and successful cooperation between the two countries.

Introducing members of the delegation earlier, the acting Director of Fisheries, Sheku Sei underscored the importance of the visits, noting the enormous strides his ministry was making to revamp the country’s fisheries and marine resources sector.
