The Sierra Leone Hockey Association (SLHA) has successfully made vibrant contributions to the 2025 International Sports Day celebrations, participating in a lively float parade organized by the Ministry of Sports and its partners.
The procession started from the iconic front view of the Youyi Building at Brookfields in Freetown to the Africell’s Beach Volleyball facility at Lumley Beach, showcasing the diverse sporting landscape of the nation.
The acting President of the Sierra Leone Hockey Association, Abubakarr Sesay, expressed his enthusiasm for the platform to promote hockey.
He noted the significance of the event, stating it was a “novelty” and a valuable chance to demonstrate the fundamentals and excitements of the sport to a wider audience during the demonstration.
Michael Sesay, the Public Relations Officer of SLHA, who is also the Team Manager of Leone Hockey Ranger, Hill Station, said the hallmark event is was unique achievement for SLHA in the country. “We believe in young talents despite the challenges. SLHA is one of the fastest growing sporting disciplines in Sierra Leone,” he explained.
