In a bid to improve revenue performance, the Commissioner of Domestic Tax Department (DTD), James Bobor Tengbeh, has embarked on a provincial tour to Kono, Makeni, Bo and Kenema Tax Offices.
The Domestic Tax Department (DTD) of the National Revenue Authority is charged with the responsibility of overseeing and administering all Domestic Taxes that comprises Personal Income Tax (PIT), Corporation Income Tax (CIT), Pay As You Earn (PAYE), Goods and Services Tax (GST), Withholding Taxes, Rental tax and Payroll Tax and more.
The purpose of the tour was to have firsthand information and status of operations in all the provincial offices.
During his interface with staff, Commissioner Tengbeh acknowledged the contribution of staff at all levels in ensuring that the Authority attained the revenue collected in 2024.
The Commissioner acknowledged the challenges faced in the first quarter of 2025.
He craved the support of staff to be steadfast in their commitment to the Authority’s core mandate, by working to meeting and surpassing DTD’s revenue targets.
He pledged his support to solve challenges that are within his control and escalate to the Commissioner-General’s office, those that require Senior Management Team’s attention.
He then reminded them of the department’s contribution towards the Authority’s overall target, which he said is over 60%, and implored all to be mindful of the task at hand.
He emphasized that “every office will be assessed based on the revenue they collect”.
He also assured them of making regular visits of like the latest ones, thus working at various stations at regular intervals.
He concluded while leaving the offices that discipline, filing and revenue are important elements of concern.
Staff in the provinces applauded the effort of the “People’s Commissioner” and promised to give their maximum support in driving the authority’s agenda for a success.
