The Sierra Leone Police and by extension the state of Sierra Leone have declared one James Kamara among other protesters wanted for their involvement in an illegal protest against the state of Sierra Leone on August 10, 2022.
According to police sources, James Kamara was accused to be among protesters in Kamakwie township, Northern province of Sierra Leone, who caused unrest in what was supposed to be a peaceful protest despite no lawful permission granted by the police to stage a protest.
The incident left over twenty protesters dead, six police officers killed during the fiasco including one Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Abdulai Fofanah and the burning down of the police station in the Kamakwie Township by angry protesters.
James Kamara and others were allegedly accused to have involved in the burning down of the police station in Kamakwie and the killing of CSP Abdulai Fofanah.
The protest turned out to be a tragedy as protesters suffered lethal consequences. The protesters, sources went on, vowed not to relent until their demands were met, otherwise there will be total anarchy.
The protesters were calling for president Bio to quit office, due to the unberable hardship that has engulfed the citizenry of Sierra Leone. The high cost of living of essential comodities, depreciation of the value of the Leones despite the rednomination of the currency.
The protest metarmophous into running battles as police fired teargas canisters and live round bullets in order to disperse the swelling crowd. A social media blogger and warhorse, Hassan Dumbuya, aka Evangelist Sampson was brutally killed during the protest,
For vandilising state property, murder of a police officer and as well as illegal protest against the state, James Kamara and others have been declared wanted by the state.
Reports stated that Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Lahai Lawrence Leema was widely seen after the situation have calm down indiscriminately raided residence of perceived protesters whose family were unable to trace their wherabouts.
Reports further added that those apprehended by Lahai Lawrence Leema were summarily executed without any trial.
James Kamara and others involved in the illegal protest against the state could face lenghty sentence whenever they resurfaces in Sierra Leone.
However, as we go to press the exact whereabouts of James Kamara is unknown.
