At last the ugly developments in Jorpor Farm in Waterloo, western rural district which had and continue to send bad news about Jorpor Farm has finally been put to rest during a meeting held on Saturday 29th July 2023 by Pa Alimamy Ngbathor Sesay aka White Boy and the headman Abu Bakarr Kargbo aka (ABK).
The meeting was centered on peace, reconciliation and construction of a police post in Jorpor Farm.
In his opening address, Chief Sesay said: “If I have wrong anybody, please forgive me for the betterment and development of Jorpor Farm. The ugly news about Jorpor Farm has to change for the better,” he stated.
“During my detention along with headman Kargbo, you all saw the spate of armed robbery that was unleashed. This is what I have and continue to fight so that you will be protected but many have misunderstood me by giving me bad names. Let us all this time be watchdogs for each another. If we see any strange person in Jorpor Farm please report to me or any stake community member for action by so doing Jorpor Farm will become crime free.
However, if I stand to protect you all, you also need to protect me by dispelling bad news about me and put the record straight to the public rather than destroying my image.
Any bad news about Jorpor Farm will not help but rather it will drive away good people that may want to come and invest in Jorpor Farm.
Chief Sesay dilating further said to show that he and headman mean business, the long cry for police post in Jorpor Farm need to be actualized since one Pa King of Jorpor Farm has given out two town lots to the Jorpor Farm community for the construction of a police post.
“This post will help us greatly,” he stated.
However Chief Sesay said we the people need to showcase to the government and development partners that we mean business by taking up the venture to start the construction process through our individual contributions.
We have wharfs in our community that have sands. This will help our programme so fast,” he added.
Equally so, headman Kargbo said Jorpor Farm needs to move to a higher height but that can only happen when we come together and put away the pull him down syndrome. We need to change the narrative. People should be watchdogs for each other. When you catch a thief hand him over to the police, do not take the law into your hands. This is raining season when thieves are very active, so be watchful.
He however heaped praises on Pa King for his kind gesture for giving out two town lots for the construction work.
Let us start by tasking ourselves for this construction. Development has to start with you before government or development partners step in.
He called on the locals to always pray and believe in God since prayer is the key. It was only prayer he said, will help us from detention otherwise the allegation levied against me and Chief Sesay would have led us to prison for life. But God was on our side since we stand for the good in Jorpor Farm.
Various speakers from the community made meaningful contributions towards peace and development in Jorpor Farm.
