A bike rider explains the bad road condition in Kabala, Koinadugu District, north of Sierra Leone.
The rider, who does bike business in Koinadugu most perilous roads, says “it is not easy” for them the bike riders to ride onto the dangerous terrains.
“Here, the roads are very bad,” he told Africa 24 journalist on Monday June 30th 2025.
He said he was feeling some pains all over his body due to the galloping caused by the bad road.
The motor cycle rider has been riding in Diyang chiefdom in Koinadugu District for close to seven years.
He was at Dalakuru village, one of the many villages at Kabala while responding to an exclusive interviews by Africa 24 journalist.
“I shall talk to you later after taking a bath,” she said.
Koinadugu District has so many dangerous feeder roads which stifle business activities in the district.
It is known to be the largest districts in Sierra Leone, but due to its many perilous roads and long distances between towns and towns, many bike riders usually would not like risking their lives carrying passengers and loads.
Those who dare to move along these bad feeder roads in Diang chiefdom in Kabala are mostly exposed to accidents, resulting to sometimes to the deaths of people.
Since the district has many and very high mountains, this is also considered as a major risk to bike riders.
Koinadugu District is mostly not motorable due to the bad road condition.
And as such, market produce are being paid for at exorbitant prices charged by bike riders since only few vehicles run transport within the district.
