The Member of Parliament from Kambia District, Hon Abdul Karim Kamara, has stated that, it is widely believed that for the past half-decade Sierra Leone is in a political quagmire and that has led for it to be classed as a nation with fragile peace.
Hon. Kamara said other schools of thought are with the view that it would be very difficult for other citizens from other countries to invest in the country.
On that view, Hon AKK also succinctly illuminated on the current happenings in the country, especially with atrocities been meted on them as opposition members.
In his disclosure, he vehemently made it clear, “that as a party they had been subjected to numerous humiliations, intimidations, harassment due to the unforeseen utterances and actions of the President and his supporters and that at some point in time, they had been called terrorists, good for nothing, and coupists etc.
He said was indicated that even their existence on earth is questionable because they had been tagged as terrorists without a justification to such assertions.
A claim, he said, is tantamount to a killing crime as the world is fighting against terrorism.
He, therefore, called on the government to put a moratorium to such a repulsive description as it affects their performances and as a result the nation stands to lose.
Hon Abdul Karim Kamara informed the audience that they were not criticizing the government for criticism per-se but rather to add their value towards nation’s building.
“Harassing the opposition will not kill the APC or killing the current leadership of the party; it will not kill the APC”.
He justified this statement that despite the effort of the ruling party to silence or destroy the entire membership of the party, yet the APC lives today, tomorrow and forever.
He pointed out that all what is necessary at this material time is national cohesion; irrespective of tribes, regions and political affiliations.
He ended up saying that as a party they believe in democracy as the only alternative to take up governance not guns.
