The ongoing alleged servant case involving Ishmael Hortons Jalloh a 39 years old businessman made another appearance before magistrate John Manso Fornah of Pademba Road Court No.2 on Wednesday, 10th September, 2025, on a count charge of Larcerny by Servant Contrary to section 17 (1) (a) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the police charge sheet that you on dates between 5th September, 2022 and November, 2024, at Ecobank Head Office in freetown, in the western area of the Republic of Sierra Leone, being a Card Operations Officer employed by the Ecobank Sierra Leone Limited stole the sum of Nine Hundred and Eighty One Thousand Two Hundred and Sixty Eighty Leones Thirty Eight Cents (Le 981,268.38) in bew notes from Ecobank General Ledger and deposited same into Car Tech Account Number:6340005879 where it was withdrawn by the latter’s account owner upon your instructions, property of Ecobank Sierra Leone Limited.
When the charge was read and explained to the accused person no plea was taken.
The state prosecutor Assistant Superintendent of police Dialla Wellington led in prosecution witness number one Osman David Kamara is a Banker for Ecobank freetown as the head of Internal Audit and his responsibilities are to carry out Independent and objective activity in the form of audit and investigation to evaluate and improves thr banks operation, risk management, corperate governance and Internal control.
Osman revealed that he do recognized the accused as a staff of the said bank who was working as the card operation within the Bank.
At that moment, the prosecution asked for date for her to get conference with the witness.
The defense counsel J. B Massaquio applied for bail on behalf of the accused person that he has reliable sureties to stand in his recognizance and will not jump bail as he was granted bail at the police station and will always avail himself in count on every adjournnent date. He made his bail pursuant to section 79 (2) and (3) of the Criminal Procedure Act of 1916.
Meanwhile, bail continued for the accused person and the matter was adjourned to the 19th of September, 2025, for the continuation of his trial.
