The latest FIFA ranking has placed Sierra Leone 121 position, which is 4 places up from the team’s previous rankings.
Leone Stars’ present ranking comes about a week after they got their celebrated one nil victory against Ivory Coast in the 2025 AFCON Qualifiers in Monrovia, Liberia.
Sierra Leone’s male national team scored an inspiring 15.81 points with a total of 1,149.81 points.
Temporarily, Morocco are still the best-ranked team in Africa sitting in 13th position with a total point of 1,676.14. The North Africans (Moroccans) are followed by Senegal who sits on 20th position with total point of 1,627.34.
Egypt, despite back-to-back wins, sit on 30th position.
Though no African team is in the top ten, the biggest jump however comes from the continent after Botswana scored a total of 38.3 points.
The South Africans are placed 140th position 7 places up from their previous ranking with total point of 1,088.45.
Leone Stars of West Africa could be placed higher if they perform well in the next international break as they expect to play Zambia in a critical AFCON Qualifiers match. The Chipolopolo are better ranked than their counterparts. They are sitting on 49 position a place lower than the previous ranking. Meanwhile, Sierra Leoneans are expecting better performance in their upcoming games against Chad and Zambia.
