East End Lions football club have secured a vital 3-2 victory over Kamboi Eagles FC in a fascinating five-goal encounter at the Approved School Field last week Friday, thus driving them to the top of the Leone Rock Premier League table.
The second half saw a flurry of action and on the 70th minute, an own goal was created by Kamboi Eagles’ Idrissa Kargbo thereby putting East End Lions back in the lead.
Five minutes later, midfielder Alusine Dumbuya extended the home team’s advantage to a 3-1.
Despite a late consolation goal from Kamboi Eagles’ Abubakarr Sidibay in the second minute of the added time (90+2), it was not enough for the visitors to salvage a point.
The match also saw a disciplinary action taken with both Kamboi Eagles’ head coach Jack and his assistant Kallon having red cards following their second yellow cards’ offences.
East End Lions’ goalkeeper, Ibrahim Barrie, making his debut for the club, was named Player of the Match for his outstanding performances which included several crucial saves made by him.
Crucially, this result sees East End Lions leapfrogging over Bhantal to take the coveted first position in the Leone Rock Premier League standings.
The Killers now boast of 32 points from fifteen matches played.
