President Julius Maada Bio’s first promise in his manifesto was to ” drain the swamp” of leakages, but the big question is how will he “drain the swamp?
The president should be aware that the age of Political subterfuge is over, and now is the moment of Change and reality.
For the past six years, the poignant Corruption fight promised by the New Direction Government of President Julius Maada Bio has been Shambolic, Unfulfilled, if not Wholly Unrealistic.
Critics Critiqued that the fight against Corruption Collapsed the day President Bio Confidently addressed Citizens in Bo City that he was not going to jail any Corrupt State Official because the state Could not afford to feed them in incarceration.
This Statement not only reaffirmed his reluctance and the fight against Corruption but served as a recipe for impunity and unchecked Corrupt activities in the Country and a disaster in the making.
The People of Sierra Leone have confirmed their pessimistic analysis of the Corruption fight in Sierra Leone as a smokescreen as the powerful political looters have been dictating their act of justice within the system unchecked.
President Bio promised to fight against Corruption and to expose the Scamming of the norms and rules that constrain the Country with political gimmicks.
Where is the Justice for the fight against Corruption in Sierra Leone?
It has become absolutely clear that the New Direction Government of President Julius Maada Bio’s Corruption fight is just a Cherry-pick where some crimes are less corrupt than others as the establishment is seeking to make Corruption the new framing Principles of their policy.
Under the New Direction Government, the term “Corruption fight” became popular as a means of pathos to our high-profile political looters whose behaviours are unbecoming and mired in a high-profile corruption scandal.
The people of Sierra Leone are expecting better from the New Direction Government after years of high-profile sleaze and scandal but with dismay, the high-profile political looters are beyond the reach of the consequences of their deeds.
These are all signs to show how low our Judicial standards have fallen and how ill-equipped they are. Who will save our Justice system in Sierra Leone and keep its Principles glowing? Those people will never be our professional luminary men whose professional integrities are in doubt.
During their Days as an Opposition Party, the New Direction Government of President Bio focused strongly on ethics and morals and was busy criticising the All People’s Congress Party (APC ) for their failings in the Corruption fight but unfortunately,
their own current track record has been mixed and mired with absolute corruption.
Sierra Leoneans are now seeing and feeling the Shadows of the dark side of Corruption. President Julius Maada Bio’s war on Corruption has encouraged proliferation as it lacks punitive measures. The New Direction Government will lose its promised corruption fight unless the current trajectory of the non-punitive trajectory is changed.
The problem of Sierra Leone is well documented, and that is “Corruption”, So President Bio should pursue his transformative agenda of the Corruption fight. His failure to make tough decisions in his Corruption fight has ultimately made Corruption Strike back.
It seems the New Direction Government is replicating the pattern of the All People’s Congress Party ( APC ) in condoning Corruption by ensuring that the answer to the Corruption fight is never. The people of Sierra Leone are now losing hope in the fight against Corruption in the Country as President Bio is terrified of triggering a prolonged war with our Political looters
President Bio’s clemency for no jail term for our political cocoons has finally made them escape the nest and idolise our political thieves. It is beyond all doubt that, President Bio will achieve success in his Corruption fight through his less drastic method.
From his rhetoric on the Corruption fight to his lack of action is fuelling the rise of rampant Corruption in the Country which he has conceded that, “Corruption Strikes back” and clearly shows that President Bio is sinking in his Corruption fight and the Country will soon overrun by the dark forces of Corruption which is now the new normal.
Rtd. Brigadier Julius Maada Bio needs to get a firm grip on his mixed messages on the Corruption fight. Does he want to be nasty and drastic or nice to Corruption? Sadly, with the alarmingly high Corruption rate, it seems doubtful whether President Bio will win the fight against Corruption in Sierra Leone.
The New Direction Establishment of President Rtd Brigadier Julius Maada Bio should reaffirm its distinct identity in its Corruption fight and stop the political gimmick or else risk Condemning its establishment to irrelevance as its justification to fight corruption in the country is only based on speculative concern.
The Crime Against the State and the Fight Against Corruption are not just an end game in itself but a prelude to the war against Corruption which might be a Consequential failure in President Bio’s approach to his Promised Corruption fight. His Commitment to the ant – Corruption and transparency could no longer be important
!! LONG LIVE THE PEOPLE OF SIERRA LEONE.
!! GOD BLESS US ALL!!
